About - Brandy Neelly
BRANDY NEELLY was born in Louisville, Kentucky in 1995. She began singing from the moment she could speak. To quote “Little Miss Dynamite” Brenda Lee, “Brandy has a God-given talent and things she can do with her voice cannot be taught. The girl can sang!"
Brandy’s music career began early with church musical performances and acting in local plays. It wasn’t long before Brandy's name was on the marquee at Opry Houses and Jamborees all across Kentucky and Indiana. She was featured at The Music Ranch, Music Land, and Shepherdsville Country Music Show, among others.
Brandy was the 2010 Kentucky CMA Female Vocalist of the Year and the reigning 2010 Entertainer of the Year. She won many other local contests including, Mike Linnig's Music Fest, Kentucky State Fair, Beech Bend Superstar judged by music industry professionals from Nashville with rave reviews for her cover of Carrie Underwood's, "I Know You Won’t."
Scott Ponce, who judged Brandy's performance in Nashville at the Bud Light Battle of the Bands, stood in front of the audience and told the Brandy, “You are electric on stage and superstar potential."
At ages 15, 16, and 17, Brandy made it to the American Idol final cut on the live television show at the end of Hollywood Week. And at age 18, with patience and perseverance, she broke though and made the American Idol Top 15.
Upon graduating High School, Brandy moved closer to Nashville to continue following her musical calling. She enrolled as a full time student at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky and became a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.
Consistently throughout her four year college career, Brandy committed herself weekly to making the three hour round trip to Nashville for co-writing sessions, songwriter rounds, solo performances, and studio work for her upcoming debut EP. It was during this time that she received a Top 11 placement in the 2016 Original Song Grammy U contest.
Brandy also performed acoustic and full band performances across Kentucky and Tennessee opening for major label artists including William Michael Morgan, The Kentucky Headhunters, Love and Theft, Mark Wills, and Lucy Angel.
In 2016, Brandy Neelly was invited to become a Member of SESAC as a songwriter. She is also a member of Grammy U, and YEP - Young Entertainment Professionals.
Brandy was selected by WSM radio to perform Opry Pre Show showcasing Stars of Tomorrow in 2017. She was an invited guest to perform at Publisher's Night at the Bluebird Café performing a song she co-wrote. Brandy has also been doing demo work as a vocalist for various publishing companies, producers, and writers in Nashville.
Brandy graduated from Western Kentucky University in May 2017 and made Nashville her permanent address.
In 2019, Brandy made the final top 4 Nashville Song Songwriting Contest and the final top 8 for the Grammy U songwriting contest.
Brandy released her debut EP, HONEST, in January 2019 featuring six of her best co-written songs in a stripped down, performance driven acoustic style produced by veteran Nashville music producer Art Ward of Century Music Group, Nashville.
Brandy will begin recording her sophomore EP, again with producer Art Ward, in May 2019 which will feature 4 full production co-written songs from Brandy's extensive song catalog.
